Broker's Comments

This is a very, very good Hillyard. The current owner has spent a great deal of money restoring her. Professional shipwright work included a brand new oak keel, new decks, new engine. The owner bought new sails and the interior has also been renovated.

Excepting the modern engine, she is largely how she would have left Hillyard in 1926 and she is a real gem.

She has a very deep cockpit and there is an immense feeling of security when on board.

With the addition of, say, cabin heating and hot water she would be a very up to date and comfortable cruising yacht for the classic boat enthusiast.

UPDATE BY TONY HICKS

My colleague Steve photographed this boat originally and I went to have a look myself as the price has come down.

When Steve mentions that the owner has spent a lot of money on this boat he is understating things. I thought my wife was good at spending but the owner of this boat makes her look like an amateur -
as he was going through the bills for a BRAND NEW engine, a new keel and a new deck he was almost in tears! He is not going to re coup much of his investment but as he says himself he has saved this magnificent yacht so is resigned to a new owner benefitting from his misfortune!

Viewing essential.
