Broker's Comments
Designed to fulfil the needs of a robust, safe and seaworthy cruiser / motor sailer, the Mk II Falmouth Gypsy was made just as strong and sea kindly as her wooden predecessor, only this time in easier to maintain GRP.
Built locally in Falmouth, she is a tough sea boat that sails well on all points. This boat is yawl rigged (not as originally designed) which works well for the current owner. She could be easily returned to the sloop configuration by removal of the mizzen.
The boat was lifted out in 2014 when she underwent an extensive list of maintenance activities including the sheathing of the main keel with sacrificial shoes of glass and resin, a full re-paint, seacocks checked, an engine overhaul and many other items.
Her engine was state of the art when built and is standing the test of time very well. I am told that she is still as strong and reliable as ever, with her single piston and huge flywheel.
The wide double sliding hatch was also very innovative and enables the cabin to convert into a 'sun saloon'.
The forward cabin is practical and once had a manual sea toilet, hanging locker, sail rack and chain locker. All the fittings remain for a Sea toilet to be refitted.
This vessel can sit upright on a drying mooring and her modest draft allows her to enjoy the shallower areas of estuaries, rivers and creeks.
These boat details are subject to contract.
